Apple Stores – Coffee shop wannabee?

Apple better figure whether they are a consumer electronics store or a coffee-shop hangout.

This afternoon I posted a comment on Alwayson about my experience at the Apple Store in Aspen Grove, in response to another post about a bad experience at the Burlingame Apple Store. Two bad experiences hardly constitues a trend, but I gotta wonder about the apparently common emerging theme: are there any adults in charge at these stores? Seems to me that my experience could have been avoided (and even rescued as it was unfolding) had there been an actual manager onsite, who… <gasp..> was managing the sales floor. Ditto for the original poster and her experience with the “we broke your notebook, but umm… like.. ok, so what.” dimwits behind the poorly named (at least there) Genius Bar.

These type of stories can and will take on a life of their own. Between the people who read commavee (from freepository) to the people who will read both of these posts from Alwayson… that’s a whole lotta eyeballs on some very uncomplimentary tales of poor customer service at Apple Stores in two states.

Apple – are you listening? I’ll ask again: are you a coffee shop hangout or a consumer electronics store run by adults?
