By now everyone has heard that Dunn resigned and Hurd is in for a tough time, and may not survive as CEO. What isn’t widely known yet is the effect this will have on previously loyal customers.
Well, consider this: I will no longer purchase HP gear and have made my position and the opinion behind it known:
HP’s Hurd Gets a Hearing: Businessweek
Years ago, I made a similar decision about Dell based upon their horrific customer service. That was after having spent almost $100k on Dell gear in less than one year. Dell lost a great customer then and HP has done the same now.
Is HP concerned about losing my $15k? Of course not. What they better be concerned about, however, is the number of people just like me who will make this same decision. It’s all about the multiplier, baby.
