Snow in Denver

The snowstorm in Denver that closed the city & the airport for a couple days before Christmas was awesome – lots of it (30 inches at our house), in a very short period. We’re still digging out and it is snowing again…

A driving path was cleared via the big snow-blower by our neighbor Paul (who is visible behind the dog), and other neighbors worked to clear driveways using the smaller snow-blowers. I was in San Francisco during this blizzard, so I only have the photos. But I’m home now, and as mentioned above it is snowing again… forecast is for another 16 inches.

    Hey Chris,

When the snow is wet, yes it is very hard to shovel because it is so heavy. The snow is usually dry during the middle of the winter, so it isn't too bad.

We average around 60 inches of snow in a given year. So far, the storm I've written about above has the worst. My family was essentially stuck at home for two days.

Although, in northern Arizona there has been alot last winter, over 7 feet at one point, and the last big snow was 13" on Memorial Day.

Over two different storms, we ended up with approx. 50" on the ground. There was a little bit of melt-off in between, but not much.
